This symbol of Hindu-Sikh-Muslim unity is located in Jawahar Park area of Kalayat. This place is thronged by devotees on every Thursday. This dargah is dedicated to the "Pir" Baba Kamal Kadri who had arrived here from Baghdad and settled down in Kalayat from where he began his spiritual preaching. It is believed that Shah Kamal once had a dream in which Abdul Qadir Gilani was advising him to go to India in order to help people choose the right path towards spiritual enlightenment. This was the reason he chose India to settle down and Kalayat became known for its spiritual training. The place is visited not only by Muslims but Sikhs and other Hindu devotees.
Kalayat Kapilmuni Temple
Kalayat Ancient Brick Temple Complex is also known as Kapil Muni Tirth and is situated in Kalayat town of Kaithal district in Haryana. This oldest Brick Temple in Kalayat is situated on Narwana - Kaithal road and dates back to 7th-8th century A.D. This temple is built in the Pancharatha style which is very similar to contemporary Bhubaneshwar and Khajuraho temple making it an ethereal master piece of ancient architecture. These brick temples were established during the regime of Satavahana dynasty during 230 BCE to 220 CE. These temples are the only few surviving pre-Islamic temples of its kind in Haryana. It resembles a huge tomb made of bricks from distance.
History of Brick Temple in Kalayat
The history of this temple goes back to 7- 8 th century when King Shalivahana, of Satavahana dynasty had a disease which made him paralytic at night. Once while hunting near Kapil Muni ashram, his arrow got stuck in the ground and while removing it, the mud splashed on his finger and healed it. He was jubilant by the magical spell of the earth, and thus ordered to build five Brick Temples there.
Temple Complex in Kalayat
This temples is built in Gurjar Pratihara Style with a layout of five temples in the Panchayatan group. The main shrine of this complex was surrounded by four subsidiary shrines. However only 2 of these 5 temples now remain while the rest are ruined. Both the temples standing here are made of red bricks without using any mortar or plaster. Out of these two temples, one is a Shiva temple with a snake statue and a main Linga statue. Behind the temple are steps that lead you to Chyavan Giri Kund, where devotees take a bath before worship.The Pancharatha styled temple is square in shape and has a beautiful Shikhara with miniature Chaitya window themes created on arched frontage. The walls of the teple which is made up of bricks has beautiful carvings and floral designs on it. This temple is worth seeing especially during Mahashivratris when it is lit up and decorated with flowers.This complex also has small temples of Hanuman, temple of Katyayini devi and a Akhara as well.
Old Shiv Temple in Kalayat
The old Shiv temple in Kalyat has about eleven incarnations of the Lord Shiva and his legendary vehicle Nandi - the bull. This ancient marble temple is beautifully carved. Mahashivaratri is celebrated at a grand scale in this temple with a puja being organized. It is believed that Pandavas were devasted with destruction after the Mahabharat war. Lord Krishna then suggested to have Nav Grah Pujjan. Thus, Pandavas built Navgarah Kund at this place which includes Surya, Mangal, Chander, Baraspatti, Budha, Shukra, Ketu, Rahu, and Shani and it is during this time that these ancient temples were built. It is also believed that King Andhya built this temple. Some believe it was built by Bhai Uday Singh’s wife.

Chyavan Giri Kund is located in the premises of brick temple of Kalayat. It is one of the natue's gift to Kalayat. The water flows naturally into the kund and this Archeological Survey of India maintains this site. The water of this kund is extremely sweet. Chyavan Giri Kund has been named after sage Chyavan Rishi in Kalayat. In the year August, 2007, water started pouring out into this tank at 4 locations. About 25 liters per minute water was flowing out of these locations and the water was clear, odorless, non-turbid and very sweet. The water had minimal sand coming out with it and its mineral content was same as the one at Kapil Muni Sarovar. This kund opened up the possibilities of fresh unexplored underground water in Haryana.
